With a winter storm expected Sunday/Monday, the board and property manager would like to remind all residents that the responsibility for snow plowing and ice services within the Spring Lakes community is shared by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the HOA.
VDOT is responsible for treating and clearing the roads in the single family neighborhood as well as Forest Springs Drive and Orchid Drive.
The roads within the townhomes are owned by the HOA and therefore the HOA is responsible for their maintenance, including snow plowing and ice treatment services. The HOA has contracted to provide for these services.
The HOA is not permitted to plow VDOT roads.
You can track the progress of VDOT’s snow plowing operations at http://novasnowplowing.virginia.gov.
Residents can also call VDOT’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-367-7623 if you witness unsafe road conditions, get information on plowing or have questions about VDOT activities.
Residents can help expedite the snow-removal process by staying home if possible during sever weather. Residents should remove their vehicles from the VDOT maintained roads, especially Forest Springs Dive and Orchid Drive. This will help crews clear the snow as efficiently as possible.
As a reminder, each resident is responsible for keeping sidewalks safe by clearing snow and/or ice off the sidewalks in the front and the side of their residence so all pedestrians, especially school children, those with disabilities and the elderly, may walk safely and securely by keeping them out of the street.
You can sign up for alerts from the county, including emergency information, traffic information, and more at www.loudoun.gov/alert.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
